My friend's hand and Seberang Jaya Hospital
Assalaamun Aleykom :) It's been a long time since I updated this blog. Been too occupied with other things to even think about updating... Tapi takpe. Ni dah ada kelapangan, so insyaAllaah can update.
Almost a month ago, myself and two other friends decided to go to the Seberang Perai area to eat Nasi Burung. It's something like Nasi Ayam only they use Burung Puyuh (Quayle?) instead of chicken. Unfortunately, the shop was closed that night (and apparently still closed until today) so we opted for the next best thing... Nasi Ayam :P Anwyayz, it was raining... so we sorta rushed into the road-side shop-stall establishment. My friend, an Iranian, in his haste, accidentally hit his hand on a parked motorcycle's side mirror. Weird enough, there was shattering sound! Then he realized that his hand was bleeding... So he showed us the wound, and I told him to go wash the blood off @ the sink. To our astonishment and shock... the wound was more serious than a skin or flesh wound! We could actually see the white lines resembling the tendons! Hecks... those were his tendons!!! Aiyaaa!!! So deep the wound. So, cancel makan... straight away go seek treatment! It was a deep wound, and the blood was poring out like tap water!!! [after inspecting the motor's side mirror, we saw that it was already broken! so my fren didn't break it, but to his misfortune, his hand hit one of the chard that was pointing outwards... freak accident as some may say].
A trip to a nearby clinic proved futile as they didn't have the means to treat such deep wounds. We were told to go to the Seberang Jaya hospital. After reaching the emergency ward, Alhamdulillaah, my friend got almost immediate treatment. But the thing is... he was given the wrong diagnosis. The doctor in charge told him that it was a skin wound... meaning that only the skin was badly torn off. So, they ended up giving him an injection and stitched his hand up (btw, a nurse did all this). Although we gave a sigh of relief, there were still doubts...
"How can a skin tear cause so much blood to be spilled? I mean, one of his fingers even has movement problems..."
Anywayz, we went back to Penang island after that... no nasik burung or nasik ayam. Last sekali makan kedai mamak Subaidah jugak. Hahahahaha! Tapi takpe. Kenyang jugek.
At the room, I noticed that his bandaging (which was only a gauze secured by two of those white medical selo tapes) had a blood spot a bit smaller than the size of a one-cent coin. We were a bit worried. Tapi takpe. Tidur dulu. The next day, the spot grew and envelpoed the whole gauze. Okes... ni dah serius ni. Long story short, we decided to get a 2nd. opinion from the USM clinic. Tarussss!!! The doctor in charge referred my friend to the Penang General Hospital, since he/she told him that it was a tendon problem! Maybe a tendon cut/tear since he cannot move his fingers properly.
Again, long story short, at the Penang hospital... my friend had to undergo SURGERY! Because the tendon was quite badly cut. And the doctors there said that it was lucky that he came early... if not, the tendon might have moved more to the upper part of his arm, which would call for an operation requiring general anesthesia. Thrid long story short, ALHAMDULILLAAH... he was successfully operated upon. And after that, the follow up treatments seem to be showing positive signs.
Now he seems to be recovering. Didn't want to write about this until I feel comfortable that he would make a full recovery. Although now his hand is still bandaged, it seems that he will be doing fine (altho now he is forced to become a lefty :P). Anywayz, I just wonder how the Seberang Jaya hospital made such a big mess out of something that was clear! I mean, me and my other friend are not medical doctors... but we sort'a suspected that it was more than a skin tear when a person cannot move his/her finger... right? Mana itu doktor dapat dia punya degree pon tatau. Maybe one of those bogus degrees... like that one Malaysian (non-mdeical) Dr.? Hmmmm.... Anywayz... really2 disappointed with the Seberang Jaya hospital. Heard bad stories before, but this is the first time I saw it happen first hand....
Anwyayz, in all... Alhamdulillaah that my fren is all ok. Oraits. Tq for reading iya :D Assalaam aleykom WBT.

ya heard lot of stories there too(hosp s.jaya)... if emergency, pls find ways to seek private hospital treatment first. then when stable, can opt to cont treatment in govt hosp
thanks for the tip Anon :) yeah, thought of that too. but since we are students... $$$ tak berapa nak ada. hehhe. but yeah, i think that would be a good step...
uish, scaryynya!
u shudve seen the blood :P owh, and the 'hole' in his hand. hahahaha!
Well bro, I speak from personal experience jugak-broke my arm once masa buat Masters and went to seek treatment. The comedy(or tragic comedy) that ensued lepas itu...Still makes me pissed off
All in all, memang better to go private. However, being students we gotta think about $$$. I got a medical card because of that incident la.
Yeah... kalau ada $$$, mmg elok go private jer.... Kebarangkalian utk terkena tragic comedy is a whole lot less... anywayz...hows ure arm now man? Hope all is ok :)
