Now, me and the wife is in the stage of sleepless nights. Why? Of course due our lovely new addition to the family... Mr. Nadeem Farhan bin Alfian. Somehow, at this stage (~1-month old), he refuses to snugly sleep during the night. End up, mom or/and dad, has to try his/her best to make the little chumster go back into his slumber. He'd normally wake up at around 8-9pm... and then continue to open his beautiful eyes up until 11 pm or even 4 am! :] But what to dooo... kena la berjaga dan tengok camne mau kasik dia tidoq balik... hehehehe. Anywayz... of course it stresses us out (who won't be?)... but that's the way it is. And we always remember, above other things, that this little guy is the greatest gift from God and its our responsibility to take care of him... and of course, LOVE him. Alhamdulillaah.

Ayah and Farhan @ around 11-12 am kot? He finally slept at around 3?

Okes. Below are some of the ways that I've tried to coax him back to sleep (which most have failed miserably):

• Dodoi - at this point, he can't quite understand the whole 'tepuk bontot' thinggy :P
• Recite some Quranic verses - this seems to work quite well most of the time :) 
• Cradle him in my arms and slowly sway back and forth - works 25% of the time
• Sing - since I am no Michael Buble (camtu ke eja?), he responds with an awkward frown
• Kasik meniarap - sometimes, he looks uncomfortable laying on his back, I let him lie on his belly... sometimes this works... but only sometimes... :|
• Cradle him in my arms and walk around the house - while a good way to decrease fat, this method does not work since the little one has more opportunity to appreciate the surroundings
• Kasik susu - Haaa... this one seems to work most of the time. But the thing is, its usually only less than an hour before that he already emptied his mom's booties :P So, end up he gets angin and discomfort after putting him to bed (even tho kasik belehak/burp)

Anywayz, more tactics are available I'm sure :) Any suggestions? (other than giving him plain water... I don't think I'll subscribe to this... 100% breast milk for the first 6-months is the rule kan? ... of course ubat is exception la kot2 dia sakit... 'Aoodzubillaah). Okes :D Tq for reading iya :D

Since the wife is due back to work soon (ok, tak la soon sangat... 1-month lagi mau pantang), we decided to go shopping for a breast pump. At first, we thought of buying Medela, as she had used the similar brand before...

We were targeting the battery operated one. Sekali tu dia!!! MYR799.00!!! Gulp... I know la it's battery operated, so the mommy does not have manually operate the contraption. But 800 Ringgit Malaysia for a pump? Aiya... I think cow's milk extractors are cheaper. Hehehe... Tapi actually the wife also agreed that the Medela brand was a bit dear... So we did not buy it (unless of course tomorrow I get Professorship) :P Okes. Below is the Medela Battery Operated Breast Pump picture... looks very2 nice, but like I said... quite expensive.

Wannywayz... we continued our search. Jumpa pulak the Pureen breast pump. One of our friends in Taman Ilmu uses it... but she gave a so-so review. Therefore, our quest continued (by this time, Farhanah dah dok lari2 and was insisting that I let her play with the mesin kuda kat luar kedai... dayem these shops, really2 know how to make money using budak2 kecik iya...)

Putar puya putar punya putar... we didn't find that many choices actually. There was Medela, Pureen, First-Mommy? (kot?)... and Phillips Avent. Pureen breast pump we decided not to buy due to the mediocre review. Medela? Ish ish ish, acik bukan orang kayo. In the end... after considering factors A, B, C and D... until Z and then the ABCDs all over again... Philips Avent was the clear winner. The price wasn't that expensive, but it wasn't cheap either. MYR289 jugak la harga dia. But from the design, from the claim of  being BPA free (whatever that is...) and from the nice attachments included (not in picture tho)... we decided to buy it. The wife seemed happy... and that's all that matters :D 

Okes. Do wish us (my wife, actually) happy pumping :D Even if the mom ain't with at home with the baby (bibik ada insyaAllaah to feed him), breast milk is still the BEST food for proper development ye dok. Say NO to FORMULA!!! (for the first six months la that is...) Worait.... Assalaam aleykom WBT.

Assalaam aleykom :) After more than one week, I finally dragged by 'behind' to go and register my son at the nearby Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara, Kajang (National Department of Registration ek English dia...?).  Easy to locate, since it's directly above the Kajang Bus Terminal. Went at around 10++ in the morning. Alhamdulillaah, lucky for me the line was short. As I had forgotten that to do business at some of these government agencies, you'd have to line up just to get the nombor giliran. Furthermore, your supporting documents (e.g. original IC, photostat IC etc.) have to be in order, if not, you won't be getting your nombor giliran.Since I had already brought (ALMOST!) all the documents... the officer in charge gave me a number :) I however still had to make a photocopy of my wife's medical records (which was not mentioned by the hospital... they only told me to bring the original)... Anywayz, the photostat shop was just around the corner, so takpe la (TAPI DIA ORANG CEKIK DARAH I THINK!!!! DAYEM ORANG2 KEDAI!!!)

In the end, the registered name for our son is Nadeem Farhan bin Alfian. In arabic, Nadeem means a close and entertaining companion/friend, whereas Farhan (similar to his elder sister's Farhanah) means joyful/jovial/girang gembira!!! :D ... So, I think the meaning is ok jugak la. 

Now all I have to do is just wait for the MyKid. It takes around (at least) 2-months to complete. No hurry though, since my anak can use his surat beranak to open akaun Tabung Haji (which I already did... Alhamdulillaah)... Okes... itu saja nukilan utk. kali ini. Assalaam aleykom WBT. Alhamdulillaahi robbil 'aalameen. My wife and I have been blessed with a beautiful baby boy :D He was born at Hospital Putrajaya around 12:30pm and currently weighs in at 3.12 kilograms :) Delivery was normal (meaning no C-section/cesarean), but induced... So for mums out there who have gone thru the inducing stage knows about the pain one has to go thru before delivery. Until now, I can't even start to imagine what my wife went thru. Even though I was there every step of the way... the pain seemed too sakit to bear :( .... So... tabik spring to all mums out there....

Anywayz, alhamdulillaah, the wife managed to tahan all the sakit, and successfully pushed out the baby, which was received by the experienced hands of the Putrajaya maternity ward nurses :D Compliments to them also for being very2 polite and patient thruout the whole ordeal :D Now wife and baby are recuperating... and insyaAllaah, if tak ada complications... tomorrow or the day after should be able to check out :D Please do pray for their health and fast recovery :D

Assalaam aleykom :) Last nite, the wife had some contraction pains... and they were getting quite regular. Since she has 3 sisters considered as 'experts' in child birth, dia pun consult la dan tanya.... kot2 dah patut go to the hospital or not. Ye la kan, the last time we had our Farhanah was in 2005... So now dah ter-forgot about all those things :) My wife did follow this one website (tak ingat nama) from early pregnancy until now, but when it comes down to the actual experience, even well written text on a nice webpage cannot help that much.

Anywayz, since the contractions were getting constant (every 10-minutes), kitorang pon pergi lah ke Serdang hospital. Putrajaya dah penuh! So kot2 if my wife had to go into labor that nite, baik pergi tempat yang ada wad ye dok :) So pergi la Serdang hospital. Waited for quite a while... even though tak ramai sangat orang. In the end... tengok2, even though the contractions were indeed frequent... bukaan masih belum ada lagi. So, since the opening process has not been initiated... the nurse suruh balik je la dulu. So kami pon balik laaa...

Itu lah cerita false alarm :D But I expect a, that it's gonna be anytime soon. So please make some doa for us ya kawan2 :D tq tq

Assalaam aleykom WBT

Assalaam aleykom WBT. This morning (at 12:00 am), me and my family arrived  safely in Bangi. It was the usual 3-4 hour drive from Nibong Tebal to Bandar Baru Bangi, and the whole trip was very2 nice, alhamdulillaah...

Why we balik kampung? Well, the wife went for a scan, and insyaAllaah it's confirmed to be a baby boy... and the Dr. also advised that if we wanted to balik kampung, now (yesterday) was the time. Maka kami pon balik lah. If we wanted to wait to the last minute (expected due date 4th Feb 2010), macam dangerous la kan. Even 1-week before pon quite dangerous. Cuz you never know when the baby's ready to come out. Nanti ada pulak yang go into labor tengah2 highway PLUS.... hehehe. Saya ni tak pandai nak lahirkan anak. Tolong2 support time 'teran' tu ok la :P

Now it's already 38-weeks  ++ , and memang waiting time (tunggu masa) aje la :) We hope and pray to God that all will be ok and fine, and also hope that friends and family can make some doa as well so that everything selamaat :) Anywayz, baby's stuff rasa2 macam dah beli semua. But since our last baby was in 2005, hope that we didn't miss too many things la :D

Wokeh... Wife nak ajak gi umah kakak dia japs. Kat PUNCAK ALAAMM!!! Tapi takpe, walupun kat ujung donia, demi wife terchenta. hehehe. Assalaaam aleykom!
